I finally get why some cancellations feel unfair (after my own closet clean-out drama)

Seeing how quick I was to toss old clothes made me rethink how fast we 'cancel' people for past mistakes. Now I think we should at least hear them out first, you know?

You know what hits me about "hear them out first"? We never let people's stories grow. That old shirt in your closet is just a snapshot of who you were at one time. If we freeze people at their worst moment, we're basically saying humans don't change, which is wild because we all do.

Man, you nailed it. I've learned to hold my first opinion of someone really loose because people shock you all the time. The guy who seemed like a total jerk at work turned out to be going through a brutal divorce, and now he's one of the most solid guys I know. Give the story room to change, or you'll just be mad at a ghost.

Stop and make yourself wait 24 hours before you react to anyone's old drama popping up online. My own rule is to just sit with that first angry feeling and let it fade. Half the time you find out the full story wasn't even what it looked like, and you saved yourself from looking like a jerk. Giving it that one day buffer has stopped me from piling on more times than I can count.
