I think the backlash against Louis CK was way overblown

I get that what he did was wrong, asking women in his industry to watch him, but the guy lost everything for something that happened over a decade ago and he admitted to. He got dropped from his movie, his tour got canceled, and his specials got pulled. It feels like the punishment went way past the crime and now he's just a permanent pariah. Has anyone else felt like some cancellations are more about public shaming than actual justice?

Doesn't it feel like we're all just waiting for someone to mess up? I mean, the public pile-on has become its own kind of show, where the outrage lasts longer than the actual consequences. Maybe it's just me, but that seems more about shaming than fixing anything.

Public shaming is the only real consequence left. If we don't call it out, nothing ever changes.
