Saw a youtuber get canceled for a 10 year old joke that was already addressed

Watched a drama channel dig up a clip from 2014 where a guy said something dumb about pineapples on pizza. He apologized for it back in 2016 and even made a whole video about growing up. The new wave of comments acted like he just said it yesterday. Has anyone else noticed how the statute of limitations on a joke keeps shrinking?

Did you catch that one podcast where they talked about how the internet just doesn't let people have a past anymore? It's like once you mess up, even if you fix it, the timeline resets every time the clip gets shared.

The one that got me was that guy from the old Vine days who got canceled for something dumb he said at 19. He made a whole apology video, donated to charities, disappeared for years. Then someone dug up the clip again last month and everyone acted like it just happened yesterday. It's like there's no statute of limitations on the internet. You can't grow up, you can't learn, you can't just be a different person than you were at 17. The algorithm loves fresh outrage too much to let anyone move on.
