That time a viral clip got a local baker cancelled over a typo
Last month a small bakery in Portland got raked over the coals because their cake said 'Happy Birthday Susan' instead of 'Suzanne' and someone filmed it. The video hit 2 million views and suddenly people were calling for a boycott, posting the owner's personal info, and leaving 1-star reviews on Google. She apologized, offered a free replacement, even showed the original order form proving the customer typed it wrong. But the mob didn't care, they wanted blood, not context. I watched the whole thing unfold from my shop down the street and it honestly made me rethink how I handle any public mistake now. Has anyone else seen a minor error blow up like this and did the person ever recover their reputation?
