Caught my old 'Deadwood' DVD set at a garage sale last Saturday
Found a beat-up box set of Deadwood S1 for $2 at a garage sale in Fresno and somehow it still plays perfect. The tragedy is HBO cancelled it after 3 seasons with so much story left, and that movie years later felt like a bandaid on a bullet wound. Am I the only one who still gets salty thinking about that abrupt finale?

beats up box set" - man that takes me back. I found my copy at a pawn shop a few years ago and honestly it was the best random find ever. What worked for me was just rewatching it with fresh eyes and accepting the ending for what it was, even though it stings. The way they wrapped up with that time jump in the movie felt rushed and like they were trying to cram 10 seasons of story into 2 hours. But I swear every time I rewatch it I notice something new, like how Dan Dority's loyalty arc is so subtle and tragic. Still gets me fired up thinking about what could have been though.

Ngl I remember reading an interview with one of the writers where they admitted the movie ending was basically stitched together from leftover ideas. The time jump felt like a way to skip over all the messy stuff they should have shown us. Still a great show overall though, just wish they had given it the proper season to wrap up.
