Desperate plea for HBO to bring back Carnivàle after my rewatch binge

I just finished rewatching Carnivàle for the third time last week, and I'm so mad all over again that it got canceled after season 2. The cliffhanger with that lightning storm in 1934 New Mexico still haunts me, and I need to know what happened with Brother Justin. Has anyone else dug into the old interviews where Daniel Knauf said he had six seasons planned? Why do networks keep killing shows with such rich mythology right when they're hitting their stride?

...and that's exactly what my buddy Tom says every time this show comes up. He was a huge Carnivàle fan back in the day, bought the DVDs, even tracked down some old scripts online. One time his dog chewed up his season 2 disc, and he actually drove an hour to a used store in another town just to find a replacement. He still talks about how the show was building to something huge, like the whole thing was gonna end with the apocalypse or some kind of cosmic reset. Every year he sends me a text on the anniversary of the cancellation just to complain about it.

that lightning storm in 1934 New Mexico" - actually, pretty sure that season 2 finale happened in 1935, not 1934. The show started in 1934 but the timeline moved forward a bit. But yeah, totally feel you on the pain. I still think about what was gonna happen with the Usher of Death vs the Creature plotline, Knauf had such a wild plan for the whole thing.
