inSo I accidentally followed a 'trail' made by a herd of goats in the San Juans
Full pack for an hour? That's brutal.

inWarning about that new 'fast quench' oil from the big supply house
Watched my buddy pull a blade from that stuff and it just snapped clean in two during the temper. He was so mad, said it looked perfect coming out of the forge. Now he won't touch the can, says it's only good for hardening regrets. Really makes you question all the hype they put on the label.

inPSA: The aviation museum in Dayton had a sign that made me laugh
That sign always struck me as a bit off. It makes the work sound like a chore you want to escape from. When I'm deep in a project, I'm not trying to avoid reading signs, I'm just focused. Doesn't that framing sell the craft short? It's more about being in the zone than avoiding work.

inNoticed a big shift in how they're mapping sites now
Remember tracing coastlines from ship logs? That's the whole problem. You had to really look at the land, understand its shape, and put it down on paper yourself. Now a drone flies over and a computer spits out a perfect 3D model. You get every detail, sure, but you never really learn the feel of the place. The person making the map doesn't have to think about why a hill is shaped that way or where the best vantage point is. The skill of seeing and understanding just by looking gets lost. We traded a deep knowledge for a perfect picture.

inI just spent $40 on a 'Save The OA' t-shirt and it made me rethink everything
Used to roll my eyes at these things. Figured it was just throwing money into a void. But the OA campaign was different. Seeing the billboards go up and the coordinated social media push, it felt like a real movement. Made me realize fan support can actually send a message to the networks.
