Walked past a Blockbuster in Bend, Oregon last month and it hit me why Firefly never stood a chance
I was in Bend, Oregon visiting my sister last month and we drove past this old Blockbuster building that's now a nail salon. It got me thinking about how network execs killed shows back in the day by bouncing them around the schedule with zero promotion. Firefly aired 11 episodes out of 14 in 2002 on Fox, and they showed them out of order, including airing the pilot dead last. There are still 4 million of us streaming it on repeat 23 years later, which proves the show had legs. If some exec at Fox had just given it one full season in the right order, we probably would've gotten 5 seasons instead of one movie. Does anyone know if there's a real fan campaign going right now, or are we all just yelling into the void?
