My $600 alternator job lasted 3 days before the bearings went again
Replaced the alternator on my 2012 Civic last Friday at a shop in Tucson and now it's making that same grinding noise. Think I got a bad reman unit or should I just scrap the whole car at this point?

My buddy's truck went through three alternators in a month from the same shop. Turned out they were using some off-brand rebuilds that just couldn't handle the heat here. Take it back and ask what brand they used.

Jeez, a bad reman alternator is way more likely than your whole car being toast. Shops install duds all the time, especially with rebuilt parts from discount suppliers. Take it back and make them warranty the job before you even think about scrapping a decent Civic.
