I finally stopped using paper maps for long hauls

Drove from Missoula to Nashville last year with a Rand McNally atlas on my passenger seat. Been doing it that way since 1989. My dispatcher kept telling me to get a GPS like everyone else. Took me forever to give in. Now I got a Garmin truck specific one. Traffic reroutes alone save me about 2 hours a week. But I still miss the big fold out maps. Something about seeing the whole route at once. Anyone else make the switch way later than they should have?

Paper maps never run out of battery or lose satellite signal in a tunnel. GPS is convenient but you're trusting a computer to tell you where to go instead of actually learning the roads yourself.

Craig still owns paper maps? What year is it over there?
