Just realized my certification lapsed by 3 months because I ignored renewal emails

I let my PMP certification expire back in March because I kept thinking 'I'll deal with that later'. Turns out reinstatement isn't just a quick form - you have to earn 60 new PDUs and pay a $150 late fee. It took me 4 months to get enough credits through webinars and courses. Now I'm kicking myself because I lost a job opportunity that required an active cert. Has anyone else had a cert sneak up on them like this?
