TIL a 15 minute daily check-in beats a weekly hour-long meeting for my team

For six months, my team of eight did a big weekly meeting every Monday. We talked for an hour, made plans, and still felt lost by Wednesday. Last month, we switched to a quick 15 minute video call each morning. Everyone says what they're doing that day and if they're stuck. The difference is huge. We fix small problems right away instead of letting them grow. Has anyone else found that short, frequent talks work better than long ones?

Hold up, I see where @ruby450 is coming from, but those quick calls would drive me nuts and break my focus for the whole morning.

Oh man, a two hour Monday meeting sounds like actual torture. I had a manager who loved those soul crushing marathons too. We’d all leave feeling dumber than when we went in. Switching to a short daily chat sounds smart, but you’re right, some teams just never get there. They’d rather burn the time and wonder why nothing gets done.

My old boss insisted on a two hour Monday meeting that felt like a punishment. We'd all just stare at the clock and forget everything by lunch. Switching to a 15 minute daily huddle sounds like a dream. I guess I'm just jealous my team never figured that out. We probably wasted a whole year in those pointless marathons.
