The day my tape measure gave up mid-job

Last summer I was trimming out a whole house in Oak Park, just me and my helper. Third day in, my old 25-foot Stanley just snapped right at the 16-foot mark, the little hook flew off and hit the drywall. I stood there holding a useless ribbon of tape while my helper stared at me. Had to drive 20 minutes to Menards for a new one. Threw off my whole rhythm for the rest of the week. Anyone else have a tool fail at the worst possible time?

That's a rough break for sure, but honestly a tape measure snapping is just part of the job... it's not like it was your only one or you couldn't finish the day. You could have just marked the 16-foot point and continued measuring from there, that's what experienced guys do.
