Old installer told me to stop using a knee kicker for stretching and it hit different

Was on a job last Thursday in a 5,000 sq ft office space and this 60 year old installer walked by. He watched me using my knee kicker on the stretch and just shook his head. Said I was killing my knee joint over time and should use a power stretcher 100% of the time even for small rooms. I blew him off at first but after 15 more minutes of pushing with my knee I could feel my patella screaming. He was right, I've been lazy using the kicker for years and my left knee clicks every morning now. Anyone else switch to power stretcher only and notice less joint pain over time?

My buddy who's been doing floors for 30 years told me the same thing last winter. He said he switched to power stretcher only after his left knee gave out on him mid job and he couldn't walk right for a week. I still use the kicker for closets but I'm trying to break the habit too. The clicking in the morning is a real warning sign if you ask me, I ignored mine and ended up needing physical therapy for three months.

The clicking in the morning is a real warning sign" hits close to home. It's like how you see people ignoring their check engine light for months until the car dies on the highway. We get so used to small problems we forget they're not normal until they blow up.
