Unpopular opinion: I swore by my old stitcher until a buddy showed me a hand sewing trick
Watching him fix a torn seam without any tools was a game changer. Now I keep a needle and thread in my kit for quick patches.

Imagine mending clothes during a blackout, @margaret_robinson.

What's the big deal about hand sewing if a stitcher does the job?

Hand sewing might seem old school, but it's reliable when tech fails. Like during a blackout, you can't plug in a stitcher. Plus, it gives you a feel for the fabric that machines don't. I've fixed buttons and seams by hand that would've been messy with a machine. So yeah, it's a big deal for keeping things working no matter what.
