My buddy called cereal 'cold soup' and now I cant eat it the same way
Last Sunday my friend Dave who cooks professionally said cereal is just soup with a crunchy crouton situation and I laughed but then I actually thought about it. He pointed out that if I put blueberries in a bowl of milk and ate it with a spoon I'd call that a cold soup no question, so why do we let the grain shape change the rules. Now every time I pour a bowl of Froot Loops I stare at it like its a guilty pleasure and its ruining my morning routine. Ive been trying to find a line that makes sense, like does temperature matter because gazpacho is cold and fine, or does it come down to whether the main ingredient is processed. Has anyone else had a friend ruin cereal for them or do I need to just accept that I eat soup for breakfast now?
Is it still soup if you eat it dry out of the box with your hand? Cause that's my move sometimes and nobody's calling that a soup. I mean, Dave's got a point about the milk and spoon thing but he's a chef, they love breaking stuff down into technical terms. Honestly, the second you add sugar and neon colors it stops being soup, it's basically a dessert situation with milk. You're fine, just don't let him near your oatmeal next, that's where he'll really mess with your head.
