Store brand pasta is fine but the sauce is where they get you

I grabbed a box of Great Value spaghetti for $0.98 and it cooked up fine, no weird texture or taste. But then I tried their marinara for $1.50 and it was straight up watery with zero flavor, totally ruined the whole meal. Has anyone found a specific cheap pasta sauce that actually holds up or do I just have to pay up for Rao's every time?

Did you try adding sugar or garlic powder to fix it, or did you just pour it on and cry into your spaghetti? Because I feel like that's a rite of passage with cheap sauce.

Never really got the big deal about fixing cheap sauce. It's like $2 at the store, you're not exactly investing in a fine wine here. Sugar or garlic powder might help, but crying into spaghetti sounds a bit dramatic. Just eat it and move on with your life, it's pasta not a gourmet meal.
