I was cleaning a flue in a 1920s bungalow and heard the homeowner tell their kid, 'The chimney sweep is here to check for Santa's landing pad.'
It was so sweet and silly, but it really hit me how much trust and magic people put in our work. I spent an extra ten minutes making sure that clay tile liner was spotless. Anyone else get a funny reminder of why this job matters from a customer's offhand comment?

Our old farm pond still has its clay liner from 1948, holding water just fine.
