New houses around here are all going with gas vents

I've been seeing a lot of new homes built with only gas fireplace vents instead of full brick chimneys. It means fewer traditional sweep jobs but more calls for carbon monoxide checks and vent inspections. I took a weekend class on gas systems to keep up with the work. It's a big change from the soot and brushes I started with.

Sure it's a change, but is it really that huge of a deal? Every trade has to learn new things over time. It just seems like normal job stuff, not some major crisis for the industry. Feels like people make a big deal out of every little shift.

True @kim_west, but some shifts upend whole workflows overnight. Best advice is to join a study group before changes hit your shop.
