Talked myself into buying a $400 digital indicator and it sits in the drawer
Saw a guy on YouTube using one to tram his mill and thought I needed it... ended up using my old dial indicator twice as much and the digital one just collects dust. Anyone else got a pricey tool they barely touch?

Talked myself into buying" is right, that tool bought you more than you bought it.

Guilty, my "collection" of fancy squares mostly just gathers dust while my trusty combo square does ALL the work.

Why is it always the digital stuff that ends up in the drawer though? I mean, I get it. You watch that one perfect video and suddenly you're convinced a $400 tool is the missing piece in your shop. But half the time, the old stuff just works better. Maybe it's just me, but I bet half the people here own a digital height gauge or something that's just a glorified paperweight. It's like we buy the tool for the idea of being more accurate, not the actual work.
