My recent try at coding showed me why beginners need to ditch the tutorials
I got into coding last month with a top rated online course. Right away, it threw terms like 'polymorphism' at me without explaining the basics. I spent hours stuck on one lesson about building a calculator app from scratch. Then I just started writing a small script to rename my photo files. That simple project taught me more than the entire course. Now I think new coders should just pick a problem and code, no tutorials needed. All that structured learning just adds fear and confusion.

Seems like @haydeng47 gets it too - we learn best by doing real things, not following perfect plans.

Haydeng47's guitar story really shows how doing beats planning every time. But here's a thing that bugs me: what happens when you hit a wall? Like, you try to learn by doing, but you just end up making a bigger mess. Is there ever a time when a basic plan saves you from wasting hours? Or do we all just pretend that messing up is part of the fun? How did haydeng47 deal with the frustrating parts without any guide?

Totally! Reminds me of when I tried to learn guitar from a book. Just picking it up and playing songs I liked taught me way more than any lesson plan.
