A barista in Austin taught me one small thing about my grinder and my pour overs stopped tasting muddy
I was at a little shop on South Congress in Austin two weeks ago and got talking to the barista while she made my drink. I mentioned my home pour overs kept coming out kind of flat and she asked how often I clean my grinder burrs, and I admitted basically never in 3 years. She said old oils build up and make everything taste dull, so I took mine apart that weekend and wow, the gunk that came off was wild. My next cup actually tasted like the notes on the bag for the first time. how often is everyone else pulling their burrs out?
