Bought a $40 hand grinder instead of a $200 electric burr one, kind of regret it
I got tired of my blade grinder making dusty coffee so I picked up a Hario Mini Mill for $40 at a shop in Portland about 2 months ago instead of saving up for an electric burr grinder. The grind quality is way better and my pour overs taste cleaner, but cranking it for 3 minutes every morning before work is getting old fast. Anyone here stick with a hand grinder long term, or did you cave and go electric?
What made you go with the Mini Mill over something like a Timemore or a 1Zpresso at that price point? The Hario is a solid starter but the grind consistency falls off a cliff once you get into finer settings, and the burr wobble is a known thing. Two months in, have you noticed your grind getting more uneven or the handle starting to slip at all? Curious if the crank time is really the deal breaker for you or if it's more about the actual feel of the grind holding up day to day.
