Called out by a longbox at a con in Chicago - my organizing system was a mess

I used to think stacking my floppies in random piles by when I bought them was FINE. It seemed faster than alphabetizing. Then at C2E2 last year, a dealer asked to see my #1 of a certain run and I spent 20 minutes digging through three short boxes. The guy just shook his head and said "you're making this harder on yourself." That's when it hit me that I was treating my collection like a junk drawer. Now I sort by publisher first, then character, then issue number. Has anyone else had that lightbulb moment where you realized your whole system was worthless?

My buddy Dave found out the hard way when he lost a $200 book in his car trunk for six months.

Nah, losing stuff just stresses me out more than the hunt is worth.

Honestly @finleyw99, isn't it more about enjoying the hunt than perfect order?
