Tell him it's because my wallet already hates me for trying to keep up with Marvel and DC. Branching out into indie books would probably cause my bank account to stage a full-on revolt. Plus, I'm a creature of habit who gets stressed when there are too many options. Sticking to the big two is my comfort zone, even if it makes me a basic comic bro.

Ever think about just picking one indie book a month? That's how I started... just grab something cheap from the dollar bin or a digital sale. It doesn't have to be a whole new pull list. You find a writer you like on Batman, maybe follow them to their own thing. Eases you in without the wallet panic.
