Showerthought: I just realized I've spent over 2,000 hours arguing about comic book continuity online.

I was cleaning out my old forum accounts and added up my post times, and the total shocked me. It made me wonder why I care so much about fictional timelines that the writers themselves ignore. Has anyone else hit a weird fandom number that made you question your hobby?

Julia_lee, the "real skill" thing misses the point. Diving deep into a story world is its own reward, like solving a big puzzle. My 1500 hours on Star Wars ship specs taught me more about design logic than any class.

Holy crap, 2000 hours? Honestly, you could have learned a real skill in that time, like how to perfectly fold a fitted sheet. Instead you're an expert on whether Spider-Man's web dissolves in rain.
