Talked to a retired plumber at the supply house and it changed my mind on a job

I was picking up some 2-inch PVC for a tenant fit-out last Thursday, and an old guy named Ray saw my cart. He said, 'You know, for that run behind the wall, you're gonna want to use a 45-degree offset, not two 90s. The pressure drop is real.' I've always just used two 90s because it's faster. But he explained how it saved a building manager a ton on pump costs over ten years. I redid my plan that afternoon. Has anyone else had an old-timer give you a tip that actually made you stop and switch up your method?

Those old guys have forgotten more tricks than most of us will ever learn. It's wild how a simple change can add up over years.

@fisher.adam reminds me of my uncle who fixed a tractor with baling twine.

My buddy's grandpa saved his farm with a single bent nail.
