The foreman at my Denver site kept flagging my submittal logs as incomplete, and I finally listened
I used to just track product data and cut sheets, but he wanted the lead times and approval dates listed on every single line. Cost me about 2 hours per submittal at first, but we caught a 6 week delay on a switchgear package before it blew up the schedule. Anyone else have a PM or super push them to log stuff they thought was overkill?
Isn't it funny how the stuff that feels like a waste of time ends up saving your butt later? Two hours per submittal sounds brutal at first, but catching a 6 week switchgear delay probably made that foreman look like a genius. I bet the next time he flagged something you didn't roll your eyes quite as hard. It's always the boring paperwork that catches the big problems before they hit the schedule.
