Changed my mind about those magnetic screwdriver trays

I always thought they were a gimmick until I spent about $35 on a set of three. Working on a laptop motherboard last week, I tipped my old plastic tray and sent screws everywhere. The magnetic ones held everything in place, even when I bumped the table. It saved me at least twenty minutes of searching for tiny screws. Has anyone found a good brand that doesn't lose its grip over time?

Yeah, they're a total game changer. I've had the same cheap Harbor Freight tray for like five years now and it still holds strong. The magnet is just as good as day one. Just make sure you don't get any metal dust or filings stuck to it, that's the only thing that ever messed mine up.

Absolutely, those magnetic trays are worth every penny. Mine has saved so many bolts from getting lost in the grass or shop floor. You're right about the metal dust though, it gets everywhere. A quick wipe with a rag keeps the magnet clean and strong. Five years on a cheap one is impressive, isn't it? They just keep working.

Wait FIVE YEARS @joseph_adams66? That's insane.
