I finally admitted thermal paste brand doesn't matter that much
Went to a repair workshop in Austin last Saturday and the guy used no-name paste from a tube that cost like $4. His temps were within 2 degrees of my Arctic Silver job. Has anyone else stopped buying the expensive stuff after seeing something like that?

Read a writeup from a tech reviewer who tested like six different pastes including toothpaste and mayo. The temp differences were tiny across the board as long as you applied it right. I switched to the cheap stuff after that and honestly haven't noticed any change at all. Thermal paste is mostly marketing hype once you get past basic conductivity. My CPU never goes above 70c with house brand paste so I'm done paying extra.
