Showerthought: I quit skipping RAM tests (sounds boring, I know) on every repair.

Catch so many bad sticks now, it's wild.

What kind of weird problems were you seeing before you tested? I bet @irisjenkins is right and some of those "fixed" issues were just bad memory slowly dying. How long does a full RAM test usually take you on a typical machine?

Wait, you used to skip RAM tests on repairs? That blows my mind. Bad RAM is behind so many weird computer issues I've dealt with. Skipping that step seems like asking for trouble later. Now you're finding all these bad sticks, which proves the test is worth it. How many repairs had hidden RAM problems before you started testing? What made you change your mind?

You're right, patw85, it does sound wild now. I wonder how many "fixed" machines came back because I missed a slow, silent RAM failure.
