Added 2oz of retarder per bag on a 95 degree pour in Tucson and it saved my finish
Foreman told me I was nuts and it would set like soup, but we got a way better finish and no cold joints on 40 yards. Anyone else messing with retarder in crazy heat or do you just chase the pour with water?
Temperature of the mix matters more than the air temp here. If your ready mix shows up at 88 to 90 degrees and you dump it on 95 degree ground, the retarder is barely gonna touch it. But if you can get the plant to ice the batch or at least run cool water, that 2oz actually has something to work with. We started tracking mud temp with a $20 infrared gun and it changed how we dose completely.
