Chasing a fixed crack for two days in Mesa, finally got it right with a different trick
I had a slab pour last week with a control joint that kept closing up before I could cut it, so I spent two full days trying to fix the crack with a grinder and filler. First day I used a standard crack chaser bit and made it worse by opening a wider gap that kept collecting dust. Second day I switched to a wet saw with a diamond blade and ran shallow passes, but the hairline kept coming back overnight because of the heat. What finally worked was waiting until 4 AM when the slab had cooled, then filling with a low-shrinkage polyurea sealant and pressing it in with a trowel. Has anyone else dealt with cracking that only shows up after sundown, or is this just a Mesa summer thing?
