Trowel direction finally clicked after a parking garage in Tulsa

I always ran my finish passes in a random zigzag pattern, thought it didn't matter as long as it was smooth. Last month a inspector pointed out the sun catching faint swirls on a slab we poured, said it happened because I never worked a consistent angle. Why did nobody tell me the direction of your last pass shows up like a fingerprint under light?

Lmao I always thought the same thing, figured smooth was smooth until I saw a contractor's slab with perfect parallel lines under a flashlight. Now I'm paranoid about my own finish pass direction every single time.
