Update: I thought power troweling too early was a myth, then a guy in Tulsa showed me his 3 year old slab with 40 hairline cracks

Idk man, 40 hairline cracks on a 3 year old slab doesn't sound that crazy to me. Concrete cracks, that's just what it does, especially outside in Oklahoma where you get those big temp swings between summer and winter. I've seen slabs that were poured by the book with cracks all over and slabs done sloppy that stayed clean, so pinning it all on troweling too early feels like a stretch. Maybe the guy in Tulsa just got unlucky with his mix or his subgrade, hard to say without seeing the pour.
