Appreciation post: My old Sega Saturn still boots up faster than my modern consoles
I pulled my Sega Genesis and Saturn out of storage last weekend after 15 years in a cardboard box. The Saturn went from pressing power to playing Nights in about 8 seconds flat. Meanwhile my Xbox Series S takes a solid 30 seconds to even load the dashboard menu. We traded instant play for fancy graphics and I'm not sure it was a fair trade. Anyone else still keep a CRT around just for this reason?

Used to think CRTs were overrated, this changed my mind.

Ha! Yeah @troyreed, I was the exact same way until I dug my old Trinitron out of my parents' garage. Playing Super Metroid on it felt totally different, the colors just popped and the scanlines hid all the rough edges. And once I dialed in the geometry with the service menu, it was a whole new experience. Now I actually hunt for good CRTs at thrift stores, it's a problem but a fun one.
