Ran a string line by eye for 3 years because I thought the laser was for the office guys
I was framing a garage in Boise and the lead guy kept shaking his head every time I set my plates. I finally asked and he said my walls were walking about 3/8 of an inch over 20 feet. I had been eyeballing my string line and calling it good the entire time. He pulled out a $120 laser level and had the whole wall squared in maybe 90 seconds. I had one of those levels in my truck for a solid 2 years and never opened the box because I figured it was for the guys doing finish work. Now I want to know what other tools I'm ignoring because I think they're not for me.
