TIL a super on a hospital job in Dallas banned all corded tools
He said lithium batteries were safer and faster, but some guys fought it hard saying cords never die mid-cut. Does battery power actually beat reliability on a big site?

Oh wow, that's not really how lithium batteries work in construction... They're definitely not "safer" in every way. Lithium ion cells can actually catch fire if they get punctured or overheat on a job site, especially in Texas heat. I've seen a battery pack swell up and smoke on a crew once, scared everyone. The ban on corded tools probably has more to do with trip hazards and dust than battery safety honestly. Cords never dying mid-cut is a real thing though, I've had a cordless saw stop dead on a long rip cut because the cold drained the battery faster than I expected. The real answer is you need both types on a big site, not one or the other.

Man I had a buddy who almost torched his whole garage last summer. He left a lithium pack charging overnight on a dusty workbench and came out to find it bubbling and smoking.
