Appreciation post: The guy who started live streaming his morning coffee routine

Three years ago, I stumbled on a channel where a guy in Portland just filmed himself making pour-over coffee every morning. No talking, just the sounds of grinding beans and water pouring. I thought it was weird at first. Last month, I noticed a bunch of big creators I follow have added 'slow living' streams, just doing quiet tasks. Then last week, I tried streaming myself organizing my desk for an hour and got more consistent viewers than my usual gaming content. It's wild how a simple, niche idea can grow into a whole vibe. Has anyone else tried switching to more chill, simple content lately?

Yeah, that Portland coffee stream was the start of something. I got into those silent study streams a while back, just someone writing in a notebook with a pencil. My channel was all tech reviews, super fast cuts and loud music. On a whim, I did a live stream of me fixing an old radio, just showing the steps with text captions. It was the most relaxed I've ever felt streaming, and the chat was full of people saying it helped them focus on their own work. The numbers weren't huge, but the people who stayed were really into it. It's a totally different kind of connection.

That's so interesting about the chat saying it helped them focus... do you think the quiet vibe actually makes people feel more connected, even without the usual back-and-forth talking? Like the shared quiet is the point.

So what makes the quiet so much better than actual talking?
