Dropped $500 on a microphone pack that sounded worse than my phone
Bought one of those bundled podcast kits with the pop filter and boom arm, and the audio had this hollow echo no matter how I set it up. Had to return it and piece together gear from separate brands for less money. Anybody else get burned by those all in one creator packages?

Did you also get that weird boxy sound like you were talking inside a cardboard tube? That's exactly what happened with mine, right down to the pop filter that felt like it weighed nothing. I tried every setting in my recording software and even moved to three different rooms, but nothing fixed that hollow echo. It's crazy how these companies bundle cheap stuff together and charge a premium for it. After returning mine I spent half the money on a used Shure mic and a separate boom arm from Amazon, and it sounds 10 times better. These all in one kits are just traps for people who don't know any better, honestly.

Maybe the foam in those kits is what's messing up the frequency response, @kim_west?
