Honestly, my worst week as a creator just ended and it was all about a copyright claim

Tbh, I got a copyright strike on my main YouTube channel last Tuesday for a 10-second music clip I used in a vlog from 2022. It was a track from a small artist I found on SoundCloud, and I thought it was free to use. Ngl, it tanked my channel's reach for the whole week and I lost about 500 subscribers. Has anyone else had a surprise claim from a track they were sure was safe, and how did you fix it?

Ugh, been there. I had to dispute it through YouTube's system and directly email the artist's label with the video link. Took like five days but they released the claim. Now I only use stuff from the YouTube library or pay for a service.

Five days is actually pretty quick... did the label just release it, or did they make you sign something first? I've heard some people get stuck in a loop where they drop the claim but then it gets flagged again by a different company.

Wow, check if the artist sold their catalog.
