Paid $70 for a mic stand and my back finally forgave me
I record my videos sitting on the floor of my apartment in Tucson and my neck was killing me after a couple takes. My old setup was a stack of textbooks with the mic on top, and it slid off mid sentence more than once. So I got a cheap boom arm that clamps to the desk for around $70, which felt dumb for a piece of metal. Last night I did a full 20 minute record without shifting around once, and the audio came out way cleaner too. Anyone else put off basic gear forever and then wonder why they waited?
Wait, textbooks? Like actual school books stacked on the floor of your apartment in Tucson? I cannot believe the mic just slid off in the middle of a take and you kept going like that for who knows how long. That would drive me up the wall, hearing a crash mid sentence and then having to start the whole thing over. The fact that a 70 dollar piece of metal fixed both your neck and your sound at the same time is kind of wild. Some stuff you just suffer through way too long because it feels silly to spend money on it.
