My aunt nearly walked out of a family dinner when I put hot sauce on my mac and cheese.
She said I was 'ruining a perfectly good dish' but after I made her try a bite with some Cholula she admitted it was actually better, so has anyone else converted a hater to spicy comfort food?

@margaretm23 nailed it, most of our food rules are just habits. Got my sister to try sriracha on her scrambled eggs the same way, now she puts it on everything.

My mom was the same way about ketchup on eggs - swore it was blasphemy until she actually tried it. Funny how people get stuck on what they grew up with, like there's only one right way to eat something. The older I get the more I realize most of our food rules are just habits we never questioned. Hot sauce on mac and cheese is genius though, the vinegar cuts through all that creaminess.
