My cousin did that exact thing during the 2020 lockdown. She used a tutorial for "scene kid fringe" and a pair of craft scissors. It took eight months to grow out the weird chunk she created. I felt that panic just reading your post.

Honestly, that sounds like a brave move. Sometimes a 2012 tutorial has that classic technique the newer ones skip. Kitchen scissors are just tools, right? The real question is whether she liked the result.
