An old-school wind tip for high crane work

Got this from a buddy who's been running cranes for decades. He says to watch how leaves blow on nearby trees before a big lift. It gives you a REAL feel for gusts at your boom height. We tried it last Tuesday and it worked perfectly. I'm telling everyone on my crew now.

Good tip! That's a smart way to check wind up high. Leaves show gusts you can't feel on the ground, so it's a solid safety move.

Watch the treetops for gusts, not leaves.
