Worst rigging call I ever had was on a 4-story hospital job
We were setting a rooftop HVAC unit in Nashville and the wind picked up out of nowhere. The load started swinging maybe 15 feet before my spotter yelled to set it down, but we were already over the ambulance bay. I had to feather the boom and ride it out for a solid 8 minutes until the gust died down. Turns out the choker on the south corner was double-wrapped wrong by the ironworker crew, and if they'd caught it on the ground we wouldn't have had that whole mess. Has anyone else had a load get away from them that was actually a rigger's mistake, not an operator error?
