I used to think writing prompts were just for beginners

Honestly, I was at a workshop in Portland last month and the speaker, a writer named Maria, gave us a prompt about a character finding a key that only works on Tuesdays. Ngl, I rolled my eyes at first, but forcing myself to write from it for 20 minutes unlocked a whole side plot for my stalled novel. Has anyone else had a prompt actually solve a specific story problem for them?
