Spent $300 on a 'premium' prompt subscription and it was a total waste
Honestly, I see a lot of hype around those monthly prompt services that promise 'unique' and 'professional' ideas. Tbh, I signed up for one called 'Inkwell Sparks' six months ago, thinking it would help me break my writer's block. Ngl, it was $50 a month, so $300 total. The prompts were just the same basic stuff you can find for free online, like 'a character finds a key' or 'write about a storm,' but with fancier words. They never sparked anything for me, and the 'exclusive' community forum was just people posting the same three sentences over and over. I felt like I was paying for someone to repackage the most generic concepts. Has anyone else tried a paid prompt service and actually gotten their money's worth? I'm looking for real suggestions that aren't just a cash grab.

Yeah, that's the big issue, they just slap a thesaurus on the most basic idea and call it premium. I tried a different one and it was the same deal, felt like paying for a fancy wrapper on an empty box. The real spark for me came from just looking at weird news headlines or overhearing conversations in line at the store. Those random, real life moments are way more interesting than any paid prompt I ever got.

Totally agree about the "fancy wrapper on an empty box" feeling. It's like they just add extra words but no real meat. I once saw a headline about a chicken that learned to ride a skateboard, and that gave me a whole story idea about animal athletes. You can't buy that kind of weird. Real life is so much stranger and better.
