Stop using "said" as your only dialogue tag
I just read through 20 prompts on here and every other one has characters constantly "saying" things with zero flavor. Throw in a whispered response or a muttered complaint now and then, it makes your scenes feel alive instead of like a robot reading a script.

Guilty as charged, my characters apparently only know how to 'say' stuff lmao.

My fifth grade teacher made us circle every "said" in our stories and I still have nightmares about it. Honestly, who has time to think of twenty different ways to say someone talked? Seems like overkill for a quick scene.
