That tiny writing prompt from a coffee shop napkin changed my story direction

I was at a local coffee shop and saw this guy scribble on a napkin: "What if the last library on Earth only had cookbooks?" It got me thinking about how a weird, simple idea can unlock something bigger. I took that concept home and wrote a 3-page flash piece about a chef hiding survival tips in old recipes. Has anyone else found a random observation that kicked off a whole new project?

Man that is a great example of how the smallest things can spark something big. Did the original napkin note already have that survival angle in it or did you totally invent that part yourself? I ask because I swear half the time the real gold comes from forcing a weird connection between two random things.

Hang on @ross.felix, wasn't the napkin actually written by his friend at the bar that night?
